ERIC ALLAN, Composer and Arranger of music in the Scottish tradition, Artist and Fiddle-maker.

My wife Helen and I live at Drumossie Brae, between Inverness, capital city of the Highlands of Scotland, and Culloden, site of the last battle on British soil in 1746.  We have played music all of our lives, but it is our involvement in Scottish traditional music which has inspired my many compositions in the Scottish idiom.

For many years, I played fiddle, piano and guitar and wrote tunes and arrangements for Inverness Fiddlers and Birl Scots music group, and currently run a Slow Jam session for Friends of Highland Music.  Playing in Scotland and abroad for listening, dancing, competing, recording and sharing music has engendered a respect for the dynamic tradition of Scottish music and that of kindred cultures.   Adjudicating at festivals, I am encouraged by the growth of young talent to carry on the tradition.
